Herb Rubenstein Consulting has extensive
experience in working with small and medium sized businesses in
improving the value that board of directors create
for their organizations. Usually, Herb Rubenstein Consulting provides this
service as part of a comprehensive organizational consulting assignment
for our clients. Now, Herb Rubenstein Consulting has decided to offer clients a customized
module that will provide a series of services specifically directed
at enhancing the value of your organization’s board of directors.
In our book,
Breakthrough, Inc.: High Growth Strategies for Entrepreneurial
Organizations (Prentice Hall/Financial Times, 1999)
we outline a new strategy for selecting members of boards of directors.
Now, we have developed consulting services for a set fee that includes
the following:
- Assessment
of current board of directors roles and productivity level. This
assessment will result in the development of an organization-specific
Board of Directors’ Scorecard that measures individual board
member contributions as well as measures the contribution of the
entire board of directors. This scorecard can be used over time
to track progress by a board of directors
- Development
of a set of recommendations on the optimal size and composition
of an ideal board of directors for the organization
- Development
of a strategy to secure the right members for your board of directors
- Development
of a set of steps the organization can take to improve the operations
and productivity of the board of directors
- Implementation
assistance as necessary in transforming the board of directors.
This five step
process includes interviews with each board member and selected
employees in the organization and takes place over a three month
time period. The fee for this service is determined by the size
of the organization and its board, but generally runs between $10,000
and $20,000 for full implementation of the five step process. For
